Our goal is to promote you in your professional and personal development. We also offer you opportunities to shape your own career. You will also receive feedback at any time outside of this program.
We invest in you. Your professional development is of central importance to us. We support our lawyers with comprehensive training opportunities—both internal and external—to prepare you for a career as a lawyer on the international stage. Our practice groups regularly organize internal training events so that the training in your field reflects changes in the industry. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to attend professional seminars, training courses, or workshops free of charge on a regular basis.
Our MoFo Academy features in-house seminars on critical business management topics. In addition, you can also attend individual training within the MoFo Academy, such as internal webinars, video courses, and presence appointments at Bucerius Law School.
Our compensation system at the associate level is defined in stages and transparently, so that clear communication is ensured in this regard as well. This also applies to our attractive bonuses.
Learn more about our compensation model for attorneys in Berlin in our recruitment brochure.
MoFo continuously trains research staff and trainee solicitors in the bar and/or polling station. The size of our Berlin location allows you to assume responsibility at an early stage and to be highly involved in your team from day one. As an international firm, MoFo will also ensure you have the opportunity to demonstrate your English skills and cultural competence.
Additionally, many of our lawyers were already working with us as part of their legal traineeship or scientific cooperation and have used the time to get to know us better as an employer.
During your time at MoFo, you benefit from a wide range of training opportunities beyond your daily legal work, such as:

We’re proud of our culture, which sets us apart. Core to this culture is the commitment to collaboration. Clients are clients of the firm, not of individual lawyers, and the emphasis is on working together to find solutions for our clients. We continue to thrive and grow because of our cultural values, not in spite of them. We invite you to be a part of a values- and community-driven organization.
MoFo advises organizations and people who stand up for civil society or the rights of disadvantaged people on an ongoing basis, free of charge (pro bono). At MoFo, you can already be involved in the pro-bono work in your legal clerkship or as part of a scientific collaboration—one of our fields of action in which you can contribute your talent and commitment and take immediate responsibility.
In Germany, our pro bono clients include non-profit organizations from the fields of refugee aid, fair trade, and culture and music, as well as university law clinics and several underage refugees who are staying in this country without parents. Our Berlin team also advises international projects involving environmental protection, the fight against corruption, access to clean water, and human rights. MoFo was awarded the Grand Prize for Citizenship for its pro bono work with refugees in Germany.

In addition to social responsibility, diversity is particularly important to us. MoFo offers programs such as MoFo Women Berlin, the Women's Affinity Group and the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender) Group Europe. Over the past two years, the Berlin team has been enriched by three partners, two of whom have been promoted from their own ranks. In 2020, MoFo Berlin received the azur Innovation Award.
On our team, you will work with us to conduct merger control proceedings at the Federal Cartel Office and the EU Commission. For example, we represented Mobileye in the worldwide merger control proceedings for its takeover by Intel. The acquisition brought together state-of-the-art technologies in the fast-growing market for autonomous driving, a sector that the competition authorities had barely dealt with before. In addition, our antitrust team—often in association with colleagues in Brussels, London and the USA—advises clients on antitrust investigations, compliance issues and antitrust damages. In addition to classic competition law issues, we also advise on exciting sector-specific regulatory issues, for example in the telecommunications sector, broadcasting and youth protection law. Learn more about MoFo’s Regulatory and Antitrust Practice Groups.
We advise on the entire spectrum of corporate law, in particular on national and cross-border transactions and their financing, but also on restructurings and conversions, strategic alliances, capital market law, private equity and venture capital, corporate governance, and corporate disputes. Chambers has called us a “dynamic team” and we think that applies very well. For example, we developed and held the first full online general meeting in Germany. We have also used the innovative structure of a foundation to set up a data alliance that reaches more than 45 million users per month. Most recently, we advised the world’s largest tech investment fund on the successful purchase of Auto1.
We advise German and international clients on compliance and investigation issues – in Germany and across borders. Do you want to participate when we conduct internal investigations into suspected cases and accompany state investigations as well as communication with authorities and stakeholders? At MoFo Berlin, you will also represent clients in the assertion of claims for damages and the implementation of corporate and employment law measures as a result of compliance violations. In order to avoid negative effects on reputation, you will also advise in advance on the establishment and further development of the compliance organization and the development of internal guidelines and carry out tailor-made training courses for our clients. Together, we support compliance officers and in-house teams in their daily work and advise the Executive Board and Supervisory Board on strategic issues. The accompaniment of exciting change management processes is regularly part of your consulting practice.
Data protection is a major challenge for many companies, especially in the technology sector. The focus of our global privacy group is on cross-border advice on particularly critical data protection issues of multinational companies, for example, in connection with the EU GDPR, global compliance checks, the introduction of data protection and IT guidelines, and whistleblowing systems. On our team, you will help leading companies to respond correctly to acute data security breaches and impending or ongoing investigations by data protection authorities. In order to provide our clients with the best possible support, we have also founded the Global Privacy Alliance (GPA), where privacy decision-makers from well-known players regularly exchange ideas on current issues. Learn more about MoFo’s Privacy and Data Security Group.
We advise a number of large German and international companies, such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, TDK EPCOS, and others, in all areas of individual and collective labor law. As part of our team, you will be there when it comes to labor law consequences in connection with local and international transactions and restructuring. In addition, you will support us in advising on classic labor law disputes, on the employment and dismissal of employees, managing directors, and board members, or in developing suitable compensation models and participation plans. Learn more about MoFo’s Employment + Labor Group.
Together with the other team members, you will advise borrowers in particular, but also lenders, sponsors, investors and funds on national and cross-border transactions. Our range of advisory services includes acquisition finance, growth finance, corporate finance, syndicated and bilateral loans, promissory notes, and vendor loans. On our team, you will be there from the start when it comes to new financing concepts. One example is our advice to Davidson Technology Growth, the only debt fund that lends money from Germany to companies in the middle- and late-growth phases and is one of the leading pioneers in the German market for venture debt. There are still few market standards for this. Learn more about our worldwide Corporate Finance + Capital Markets practice.
Even seasoned lawyers often shy away from arguing. This is where we come in: Our lawyers provide rich knowledge, e.g. in the area of corporate law or IP, and we provide the litigation experience. In addition, we explain the legal framework and arguments to our clients in an understandable way, because this is the only way we can get the necessary input from them to develop the optimal litigation strategy and the “story,” and thus to convince the court. With us you can get enthusiastic about highly complex technical products such as aircraft engines, work with us to shield horror films from injunctions, or file “torpedo lawsuits”. We were particularly pleased to receive the following compliment from a client: “The lawsuit reads like a novel.” Our fights often go over several rounds. Given our roots in Silicon Valley, technology law is part of our DNA and a focus of our offering, which is reflected, for example, in the MoFo Tech Blog and other publications. A large part of our work is dedicated to providing strategic advice to some of the most innovative companies in the world on the design of IP-driven business models. We provide comprehensive advice on all legal issues in the field of software and patent licensing, R&D, cloud computing, big data, AI, e-/m-commerce, new forms of marketing, and conventional sales. Together with our experienced attorneys, you will work in a diverse spectrum of industries, from life sciences to autonomous driving. In addition to our advisory work, we support our clients in contentious IP disputes. Learn more about our worldwide Technology Transactions practice.
Our team has many years of experience advising on tax law on national and cross-border transactions, reorganizations and structuring issues, especially in the media, technology, and real estate sectors. We advise national and international companies on complex tax conversion processes and their implementation, on M&A, and on special forms of transaction such as factoring and sale-and-lease-back transactions. A special focus is also on advising the public sector and its commercial operations. We enjoy the trust of the board of directors and management in complex tax compliance issues and we support our clients in demanding tax audits and financial court proceedings. Learn more about MoFo’s Global Tax practice.
We cover all central areas of media law and there is hardly a relevant deal in this area without our involvement. Our team will advise you in particular on national and cross-border media transactions as well as on film productions, regulatory issues, and contractual and copyright issues. The media sector is constantly on the move and we are also continuously developing our offerings. We are increasingly advising on future-oriented media platforms (TV and online) or on influencer topics. Another example is our annual event as part of the Berlinale, at which we take up and discuss new topics with more than 300 guests and decision-makers from the media industry. We are delighted to be rated a leader by all major independent directories. But it is even more important to us to do the best possible job for our clients. As one client said in Chambers, “They are passionate, do their work for the right cause and have fun in their job, which is inspiring for those who work closely with them.” Learn more about MoFo’s Media + Entertainment Group.
We have a special focus on real estate investments and successfully advise our clients on transactions on the buyer and seller side. Here we benefit from the fact that our team complements each other in an interdisciplinary manner, so that you can also gain experience with us at the intersection of finance, tax, and corporate / M&A. In addition to real estate transactions, we also advise on large project developments and complex lease negotiations. Our clients in Germany and around the world include private equity funds, asset managers and institutional investors, banks, financial service providers, and public companies.
